Energy Concepts was founded in Las Cruces, New Mexico in 1991 by Cary Lane, the company’s present day owner and general manager. At that time, solar power was still in its beginning stages of commercial development, and was primarily used to provide electricity for off-grid homes, water pumping, and remote communications equipment.
The company soon began serving customers all over the state, and eventually relocated to its current off-grid headquarters in the mountains near Las Vegas, New Mexico. When the cost of photovoltaic modules (solar panels) and other components dropped to an economically attractive level in the early 2000s, grid-tied PV systems for homes and businesses began to make up more of the company’s projects, along with PV powered communications facilities and wind power.
The trend of keeping pace with customer’s needs has continued, and today Energy Concepts has added energy consulting, evaluations, audits, solar heating, demand response, and other cost effective solutions to its energy menu. This effort is supported by staff working out of the North Office Headquarters, a sales office in downtown Las Cruces, and staff working in Albuquerque and Santa Fe as well.
